Thinstall and Citrix have partnered to provide a virtualized Citrix® Presentation Server (ICA) Client

The Thinstall Virtualized Citrix Presentation Server Client enables instant, portable Citrix access from any PC without installation or Administrator Rights. Previously, users were often prevented from accessing their work environment from mobile media such USB key drives, because they lacked elevated security privileges needed to install and use the Windows Citrix Presentation Server client.

No device drivers or installation

Thinstall enables the Citrix Presentation Server Client to run without device drivers or installation as a single compressed EXE. It can be carried conveniently on a USB key drive or CDROM and runs regardless of what is – or isn’t –already on the host computer.  This eliminates technical support hassles and makes Citrix access easy for mobile users.

Compressed state saves valuable drive space

The virtualized Citrix Presentation Server client runs from a compressed state which saves valuable space on the USB key drive.  It runs from a 4MB disk footprint of space instead of the usual 12MB

No Administrator rights required

An essential component in lowering support costs for PCs designated for transient users (such as Kiosk and hotel PCs) is the careful application of security policies that prevent new software installations. Because the Thinstall Virtualized Citrix Presentation Server Client does not have to be installed or modify the host PC, no Administrator Rights are required to run it on the host PC, allowing users to have universal access anywhere they go.

Sensitive files kept secure

While running under Thinstall, Internet Explorer browser history and temporary files are loaded and stored directly from the USB drive ensuring no trace is left behind.  As well, Citrix Presentation Server client configuration settings are loaded and stored directly from the USB drive preventing the user from accidentally leaving behind their login name, password, or session cache data.

Access through Internet Explorer

The Thinstall Virtualized Presentation Server Client enables users to login to their Citrix accounts through Internet Explorer with no changes in user experience or modifications to the Web server backend code.  Any Web page that uses the Citrix ActiveX control will allow access to the full native Citrix Presentation Server client without the performance impact or compatibility issues associated with the Java client.

No changes to host PC

Thinstall virtualization enables the Citrix Presentation Server Client to run in isolation which means there are no modifications to the file system or registry. This ensures the host system stability and security and foolproof access to the Citrix environment from any PC.
